Can't Wait...

... to show you the results of my latest shooting!
I told you in my last blog entry that I'm shooting a new series for a friend of mine. She is an amazing designer and asked me if I'd shoot her newest jackets. Since I love her style and she likes my photography, it was the perfect match. So we looked for some hot chicks to present these awesome clothes in a photo and we found them.

This photo is just one of the outtakes with the designer (Rhea Schmid) in front. When I'm finished with all the edits, I'll post the results here as well. Feedback is always welcome!

Year 2012 starts quite nicely!

Ok, I know that I didn't managed it to take the photo, but the photoshooting took more time than planned. Nevertheless, I hope you all had a great night with your loved ones! My boyfriend and I spend the night at a friend's flat and we really had a lot of fun.

But the main point of this post is because I want to say thanks to Brooke Shaden!
She mentioned me in her video as one of her inspirations and I still can't believe this... You can find my picture at minute 4:16. So all I want to say is: THANK YOU! Hopefully, this year will be better than the last.

Today, I woke up an realized that I'm shooting today and I'm so excited about this because I can't even remember when I used my camera for something conceptual... But I'm gonna tell you more about that later.
Then I thought about my idea I had some months ago and asked myself why I didn't shoot it until now. Mainly it's because I'm so lazy in these cold and dark winter days... So I said to myself that I need to try realizing it this year and there are still 2 days left.

The Violet Hour

Croatia has the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen!

OMG, guys! It's been ages… I can't remember the last time I used my camera to capture a beautiful moment.
Thank god, I miss photography a lot because this made me start to edit some of my vacation photos. I also made a timelapse-shoot of a sunset, but I think this will take me some more time… But we'll see. So tell me, how are you? What are you all doing?

Beside that, I really have a great idea for a new photo from my actual series. Hopefully, I can realize that idea soon!

Holiday Pictures - Part 1: Analog

Hey guys,I finally had the time to look at my holiday pictures and I began with the analog ones. I had my dad's Nikon FM with me and used a redscale film. You may ask yourself why, and I only can say: because I LOVE redscale photos :)
The location of our holiday was Lavdara in Croatia. We had our own little house with nobody else in the bay, except the cute donkey, the fished and some wild bunnies. It was so relaxing and beautiful!

I hope you like them because I wish I could be there right now again. And don't worry, there are way more to come!

Only 2 days left

Hey guys.
My exhibition is in 2 days and I finished most of my stuff. I printed all the chosen images, I prepared the photo books, I bought all the necessary frames for the images. Only the preparation of the location will be done tomorrow. So it seems that I'm good to go.

Beside this news, I also want to share something personal. My boyfriend and I are looking for a flat so that we can finally move in together. Today we've seen the perfect flat, but sadly there's one room missing. But the rest (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) were perfect! So please, cross your fingers that we'll find out perfect home as soon as possible.

Moreover, I promise that I'll be spending more time with photography when all the stress is gone. Because at the moment, I can't be creative at all. So I hope you understand and will wait for my comeback :)
So meanwhile, you could tell what you're all up to right now. I'd be happy to hear from you all...

It's been a while...

I know that I have been not a good blogger lately, but these last weeks were really stressful. I came back from my vacation and started working. I was photographer on a wedding and I still haven't finished my photo book... And on October 1st, I have an exhibition.
So I really don't know where my head is right now. Beside that, I really want to shoot a new picture for my new series, called 'Fears'.

So wish me luck that I can finish all in the next days, but I think the photo book will be a challenge. Nevertheless, please don't forget that I'm still alive and still love you :) Just give me some time to organize myself.

My Body Is A Cage

that keeps me from dancing with the one I love, but my mind holds the key!

I heard this in a song some month ago and I couldn't get that line out of my head. This line bothered me since weeks now and I often thought about what it means to me personally. After some sleepless nights and bad dreams, I finally realized its meaning to me. The people, who know me since years now, are aware that I'm really shy the first time I meet someone new. I need some time to warm up before I let someone see inside. I think this my way to protect the most valuable article I have in store: my heart. But when I knew someone better, I open myself completely and would do anything for a good friend. Maybe that is the reason why I got hurt that often in the past… I trusted people too fast and got hurt afterwards. So now I shared something really personal with you! This is the reason why it takes more time to win my trust and so I see my body as a cage sometimes. But I think: better save than sorry.

This knowledge made me think about a new photography project and I came to the conclusion that I need a new perspective in my art. I decided to start a series. This series is called 'Fears' and will include photography about personal fears as well as fears from other persons. Maybe I'll also shoot with models, but that depends on the idea and if the fear is personal or not. So you can be curious what will come next...

Keep The Demons Inside

I really needed to sleep over this picture at least one night and take a look at it with refreshed mind!

And it seems that I still like it, although I'm not sure which color version I like the best. Beside that, I need to tell you that I was longing for a new manipulation since weeks now! Actually, I wanted to shoot outside on a dark and secret place somewhere in the woods, but since it's raining since days now I decided to shoot inside as I used to during my 365.
That nearly made me loose my mind because the lighting from outside was a disaster because of the rain, I wanted to use my softbox. But, lucky me, my walimex remote releaser for my flash wouldn't trigger anymore. I tried a thousand times, but it seemed dead. So I shot without it… But when my boyfriend came home and tried to find the problem it worked. ARGH, technology is a pain in the ass sometimes :)

I also have more informations for you.
This week I really made my piggy bank cry because I bought a lot :) The most important purchase was new film packages for my Lubitel 166+, Diana Mini as well as my Nikon FM. There are some black and white film, some desaturated film as well as some special chrome film. Can't wait to load my cameras and start shooting! Furthermore, I finally bought myself a nail design set and my sister will be my first victim I think. Last but not least, I bought some really cool T-Shirts from we own. But I'm sure I'll take some images with them on so you'll see them...
Last but not least, I want to tell you that I'm going to write more blog posts. The posts will be about my photography as well as personal stuff (e.g. personal images, test images and reviews). This means that some images will only be posted there, so be sure you follow my blog to be up to date!

Seak Peak: Charity Project

I promised more post and here I am blogging a sneak peak of my current project.
All I can say is that Chrissi asked me if I'd like to help her cousin. He designs clothes and they want to make a charity-runway-show to collect some money for the Austrian children cancer relief. I really love this idea and was in it from the beginning. They still need some sponsors and so we went into a park and took some images so that the sponsors can see what they're talking about.

Underwater Test Shots

I know it's been a while, since my last blog entry and I really apologize for being so inactive. But there's a lot going on now in my life... So please forgive me, I'll really try to post more often.
The reason for this post is nothing spectacular. I just wanted to let you know that I finally bought myself an underwater camera - the Fujifilm XP30. I decided myself for the white edition and I'm totally in love with this cute camera. Although, I really miss the picture quality of my d90. Nevertheless, I'm glad I did it. Of course, I already took some test shoots. Unfortunately, the Kraiger lake isn't that clear, so it's hard to the fishes. Furthermore, I didn't had my diver eyeglasses and flippers with me.

What's In Your Kit?

I've seen the image What's in your Kit? from Cinnamon and I wanted to do the same thing and show you my equipment as well. I took this image with my old Nikon D40x, so this is the reason why she's not on the photo. I also didn't put my old digital cameras on this because I never use them anymore…

Underwater Camera

I'm searching for an underwater camera for my vacation in Croatia and I could really use some help. Have you any experiences with underwater cameras? If so, please share in a comment or write me an email (nanaphotography@gmx.at). I want to use that cam for some underwater shots of fishes etc. All other stuff will be taken with my d90, so I'm searching a good, but affordable underwater camera.
I've seen 2 cameras, which seem interesting to me:

First, there is: Fujifilm XP30

The reviews on amazon are mostly good, but there are no example pictures... If you have this camera, would you recommend it? Just some details: waterproof up to 5 meter, 14.2 megapixels, 28-104mm and 2.7 LCD screen, HD movies and GPS-function

The second one is: Easypix W508

This camera is a lot cheaper and has also fewer options. Also the opinions on amazon seem to differ. Some details: 12 megapixel, 7.35mm, 2.4 LCD screen, video function....

So can you please help me decide or give me some other good options? I'd really appreciate that because I don't want to buy a 1,000€ underwater housing for my nikon d90 and I don't trust these plastic underwater camera bags... I really want to keep my d90 save :)

New Nature Pictures

This is my first timelapse! Plus, I really like it :)
The reason for this timelapse is that one of my birthday presents was a walimex timer remote control. Furthermore, I always wanted to try this and the clouds were perfect for that matter. I hope you like it as well and if you have any feedback, critique or suggestions, please feel free to share!

Lunar Eclipse

Yesterday there was a lunar eclipse and I decided to take some pictures. I used my Nikkor 55-200mm to get as close to the moon as possible. I wish I had a 600mm ;) Nevertheless, the moon was hard to see because of the clouds, but I could make some nice shots. Sadly, I only have images from the beginning and the end because when I picked up my boyfriend my car struck and I spend the time with calling a breakdown service. When this was finished the lunar eclipse was almost over…
So it wasn't my day at all. Nevertheless, I want to show you the results I got. Hope you like them.

Birthday Present

Hey guys, as you can see I already uploaded a new image. I never thought that I'd miss photography so much. Another reason for this upload is my birthday (it was yesterday) because my awesome boyfriend and my family bought me some really cool studio equipment. I received a softbox plus tripod, a wireless flash trigger and a timer remote control! So I had to shoot something to try everything out and I can say: I LOVE IT!

My friends also gave me some awesome stuff, but the best part about that was the self-made camera from Barbara, which can be seen in this image! I've never seen such a cute thing and that's why it had to be in this photo as well…

Diana Mini

Finally finished with my 365 and then I receive my first developed film roll taken with my Diana Mini today.

Plus, it's also my birthday today! Wow, all good things happen in a row it seems :)

But I won't talk much because I'm sure you want to see the results. Most pictures on this film are self-portraits or portraits from my friends since I mostly used it during our bar nights... I already have some favorites, which I'll show you in a moment, but I'd also be super duper happy, if you would tell me yours in a comment. Would you, please?

Beside that, I really like this camera. Although the viewfinder is a bit hard to use compared to my nikon d90 or nikon fm. It's hard to see what will be caught on film an which parts not, but that's the fun shooting with a lomo. It's not about thinking, it's about shooting!

Enough talking. Enjoy my analog adventure during April and May with my family and friends!

Day Three Hundred Sixty Five

And Then All Lights Extinguished (365/365)

Well, I'm finished! This is my last photo for this 365…

Thanks to my mam for helping me with this. She was the one, who blew out the candles and she also helped me to be in focus because otherwise this would have been a pain in the ass to shoot! The meaning of this image should be clear. The candles stand for my 365, which is over now. That's the reason why the candles don't burn anymore and smoke surrounds them. I had this in my mind since days now and I knew that it would be perfect for my last photo and I hope you like it as well.

It was really an interesting year. This project was really awesome, although sometimes I really wanted to quit. But if you're thinking about starting a 365 yourself - DO IT! This project helped me to grow in more than one aspect. It definitely helped me grow as a photographer, as well as a person. I made so many experiences this year. As mentioned before, I gained a lot more photography skills and I also met a lot of people, who talked with me about the project. I really got a lot of feedback, advices as well as admiration.

This project showed me how much I love photography! I know that it will be always a part of me either as a hobby or maybe sometime as a profession. Because of this awareness, I have to say that I'm a little bit sad that this project is already over. Nevertheless, I'm not going to start up another 365 this year. Sorry to disappoint, but I really need some time now to see where photography takes me now...

Completing my 365 was really worth it. I never missed a day although this project was a pain in the ass some times, but on other days I could have made 5 photo's and more at the same time… Some days I felt inspired and on other days I couldn't come up with an idea at all. Anyway, I mostly spend 1-5 hours (some times even more) for each image. Beginning with the set up, shooting, editing and sometimes also the walk to the location. Nevertheless, I really think it was worth it and I'm really proud of myself that I finished it. Looking back at older photos shows me that this time was definitely worth it.

Last but not least, I want to thank a few people. First of all, I want to thank my boyfriend, friends and family. They always supported me during this project. Especially my boyfriend needed some extra nerves when I spend most of the day shooting and editing that being with him :) And of course, I want to thank YOU GUYS! don't even know where to start, but you all have been so supportive and amazing. Thank you for all the nice comments, feedbacks and critiques as well as motivating me to keep on every day.

WOHOO, I'M DONE! TIME TO CELEBRATE :)

IT'S THE LAST DAY… I can't believe it, can you?
Talking about this image: First of all, green is my favorite color! My mom bought this prop for me and since I stumbled upon it today I thought I could use it before my project ends. It was kinda hard to place the ivy in my hair so that it will stay there as well. First, I had the problem that when I would move, the ivy leaves would fall off. But I managed a way to keep them constant in my hair. I found that out when I wanted to remove the prop. That hurt like hell, but the photo was worth the pain.

First I wanted to name this 'She Wolf', but then I had to think about Shakira all the time and that wasn't what I was going for. So I changed the tittle and I like the new one better. The editing of this one was a pain in the ass because nothing worked out the way I wanted it too. But gladly, I was able to create something really nice and I have to admit that the editing was definitely worth it. Good that I didn't gave up after the first tries… Nevertheless, I'd like to hear your opinion. Do you like it as well??

Actually, I wanted to do something completely different, but the props my mum bought for me were completely different as I wanted them. So I tried something else and I couldn't believe it, the test shoot was so exactly the way I wanted it to look. I never finished an image for my 365 this fast! I also took some other shots, but I liked none better than the first one. I still can't believe my luck :)

Nevertheless, it wasn't a nice photoshoot. It was hot and the wool constricted my face and the wool in my mouth was really disgusting. So if you want to try that as well, you maybe use something different. Maybe these sweets. If I only knew this before :)

Beside that, I'm feeling better now, so I made a photoshoot marathon and made image 357 to 361. I can say that I'm exhausted now, but I'm glad that I caught up with the project because the final countdown started…

Hey guys, sorry again for my absence! BUT: I'm Back!
If you hadn't read it on my Twitter, Facebook or Flickr here it is for the last time: I'm really sorry, but I had to make a break from my 365 as I mentioned it already on my Twitter some days ago. I was to weak to sit in front of the computer and that's the reason why you read this by now…

I have a severe pyrexia with angina and sinusitis. This means that I have to stay in bed, but I couldn't do anything else because I can't swallow and I have such severe headaches because of the sinusitis that it's hard for me to keep my eyes open. I hope you understand now why I had to pause my 365 project, but don't panic, I'll restart it when I feel fit enough and since I'm typing this now I think it's just a matter of days. I really miss you guys and your feedback, but most of all I miss photography!

Hopefully, I can finish this project now without any other disruptions….

Please, don't laugh at me, but I really had a problem with my image today. I was thinking so hard for a concept, but I wasn't really successful today. But then I listen to Streelight Manifesto's song Would You Be Impressed and this idea came to my mind. So actually, I was creative today. Beside that, excuse my awful handwriting. I don't like it either, but I can't change that…

This idea was in my mind since yesterday. I've seen a report about conjoined twins and I've really seen some worse cases. I also dreamed about that this night and so I wanted to share this with you.
Conjoined twins are also known as Siamese twins. They are identical twins, whose bodies are joined in utero. This is a really rare phenomenon. There are also a lot of different types of conjoined twins and if you are interested, feel free to read this Wikipedia article.

I got this idea during listening to RX Bandits and I wanted to share my favorite part in my life with you and this is photography. This is me - pure - which means without make-up. I'm quite happy with my skin because I mostly have no pimples. Beside the shooting part, I also got my hair bleeched from my sister-in-law today. I really needed to do that because next week I'm on her wedding and of course I want to look nice. Since I always wanted an undercut she made me one today as well. I can feel that summer is coming and I have to say that I can't wait for it to begin!
I already retrieved my summer shoes and stuffed in my winter boots. I can't wait to start wearing skirts without tights or wear some nice plateau peep toes. Also, I love the long sunny days and my new sunglasses (which can be seen in this image). But the best about summer is to have a good time with friends, lie in the sun and go swimming.

Sometimes I really wish I could visit another world or atmosphere because this world makes me sick sometimes. All the pain and suffering over the world makes me feel this some days. Otherwise, I really adore my family and friends here, so I wouldn't leave and let them stay here. I'd take them all with me and start a new evolution. If you're nice to me and buy some prints, I'd take you as well with me. Haha :)

Beside that, I want to mention that this projects been really fast. It's already day three hundret forty one. This means only 24 images to come… I never thought that I'll get that far because sometimes I really thought about quitting. Gladly, I'm still in and hopefully you feel the same about that.

Nail Art 'Crackling Top Coat'

Hey guys,

some time ago I asked you on twitter if you'd be interested in a nail art tutorial. Unfortunately, I had no time until now to record a video because we're getting new windows… Nevertheless, I wanted to show you something really cool. Some days ago I ordered myself some crackling top coats. You may ask yourself now what that would be and so I made some photos and will explain what I did as well.

Here is an image of the products I've used:

(f.l.t.r.): GNS Top Coat Fast Dry (1), Avon matte 'black as night' (2), p2 crackling top coat 'golden rush' (3) and essence matt top coat (4)

First I painted my nails with the the transparent top coat (1). When this was dry, I used the black matte nail polish (2) and applied it to the nails.

Base Coat: Avon matte 'black as night'

The next was to apply the crackling top coat (3) over the black nail polish.You have to find out yourself how much of the crackling top coat you want to apply because every time a different result will come up. I applied a thick layer of the crackling top coat so that the golden tone will be the majority. But you can decide yourself what you like best.

After the crackling top coat was dry as well, I applied the last layer. This layer is a top coat matte finish because I really love the matte look and I think it also last longer with a matte top coat than a shiny one, but again this lies in the eye of the beholder.

Ultimate result: Avon matte 'black as night' + p2 crackling to coat

I hope you liked this tutorial as well as the result. I'm sure I'm going to use my other crackling top coats (from p2; colors: 'black explosion' and 'silver blast') really soon… If you are interested in a more detailed tutorial, feel free to share this in a comment and I'll try to record my next nail design in a video tutorial!

Welcome To The Family, Diana Mini (340/365)

It's friday the 13th, but I really love this day. I finally finished the cleanings of my room and everything looks so nice now. I also re-arranged some thing, especially the stuff on my desk. Moreover, I got my new Diana Mini 'En Rose' today and I can't wait start shooting. This is also the reason why I used it for my image today. Actually I wanted to create something scary and dark, but I'm glad that I have the camera already, so I can use it already on the weekend…

I just love this camera already. It is so tiny, sweet and cute. The pink looks so awesome and the flash made me smile. So hopefully, the weather stays this nice on the weekend so I can try her as often as possible. Just to let you know I also bought 6 film rolls. I think this should last over this weekend ;) This film rolls are special. One is a redscale and the other has some chrome effect. So we'll see what happens. Moreover, this will be the first images with a non expired film.

… which is a really great feeling, but it can hit you hard if you realize the truth and can't stand it.

I did it: I bought myself a Diana Mini today. I decided to buy the smaller version because of some reasons. First, I wanted a camera, which can be in my bag all the time and don't take too much space away. Another fact is that 120 film is more expensive than 35mm, the development is more expensive as well and the maximum number of images is 16 against up to 72 on the 35mm. Since I wanted the Diana F+ 'Mr. Pink', I decided to take the Diana Mini 'En Rose' and I can't wait to hold it in my hands! Maybe I'm lucky and the package arrives before the weekend because then I could start shooting at night partying with friends :)

I'm not completely satisfied with this, but I have no time today to redo it. I think that the backlit is too strong so that my face is a bit too dark. Although I shoot in RAW, this is the best I could do to restore it. I also wasn't sure about the 'color' of this image. I also edited a colored version, but I think the black and white fits better...
So, I'd really love to know your opinion on this one.

WOW, this image only needed 5 minutes shooting and I had 2 photo's, which I really liked. Normally, it takes me at least 20 to 30 minutes. And also the post-processing was really fast. I still can't believe it…

Some changes in my life today… Actually this day wasn't really inspiring and I also had not much time. That's the reason for this simple portrait. Since I like the edit from yesterday I tried it one more time and I'm starting to love it because I think I look like a mermaid under water… A friend of mine said that my skin looks like cotton candy with this edit. So more to come, for sure!

I went shopping today and finally found the perfect sunglasses for this summer. My absolute favorite sunglasses broke some month ago and I never found one I really liked, but today at H&M I finally found it :) Beside that, I also bought myself a new hair color 'Pastel Pink' and made myself some strands pink. You can see it just a bit on this image, but it looks really nice. At least my boyfriend and I like it :)
